Rewilders is dedicated to supporting native pollinators by creating and maintaining the 1K Pollinator Pathway—a network of 13 (and growing) public pollinator habitat gardens located on city property within a one kilometre radius. These gardens are planted with native species, providing essential food and shelter for pollinators in an urban environment.

Many native pollinator species have small foraging ranges, making it critical to establish continuous pathways of native plants through neighbourhoods. The 1K Pollinator Pathway helps bridge these gaps, creating vibrant, connected habitats that ensure the survival of pollinators while enhancing the beauty and biodiversity of our community.

Pollinator Pocket

Located on the north west corner of Clinton Street and Bloor Street West. This garden was planted in May 2022 and features an array of native plants most of which were grown in our backyard.

Lepidoptera Lane

This garden started in 2020 and runs the entire length of the laneway between Lennox Street and Euclid Avenue. What started as a attempt to control the invasive tree of heaven has turned into a flourishing pollinator habitat along the road side.

Harbord and Bathurst

This garden is located on the north east corner of Harbord Street and Bathurst Street. Planted in July 2022, this unused city bed was an ideal location for a pollinator garden. All the plants were donated by our close friends at Project Swallowtail.

Euclid Pollinator Gardens

This area features two identical beds located on Euclid Street beside the Harbord Collegiate tennis courts. Features St. John’s Wort shrubs from the city and plants donated by Project Swallowtail.

Green P Pollinator Garden

Planted in spring 2023, this garden was created in an unused bed in a Green P Parking lot across from the Palmerston Libarary. Funding for this planting provided by a PolllinateTO grant.

Manning Boulevard Planter

Planted in August 2023, this garden is a partnership between Native Youth Resource Centre (NYRC), Rewilders and Palmerston Area Residents’ Association. The north end of this garden is a dedicated medicinal garden for the NYRC. Tobacco and cedar were planted in August 2023 with further planting to take place in Spring 2024.

Healey Willan Mini Garden

Planted in June of 2023, this is the smallest of the pathway gardens. It is located near the Euclid entrance to Healey Willan Park.

Children’s Learning Garden

This garden, which was planted in June of 2024, is a place for kids and community to observe the relationship between native plants and pollinators. Tucked in the north west corner of Healey Wilan Park, it also make a great setting for planting, seed harvesting, seed sowing and other educational events.
