Adam Barnes (he/him)
Founder
Adam Barnes is the founder of Rewilders, a community-based ecological initiative dedicated to creating native plant habitats throughout Toronto. Since 2023, he has built a network of thirteen public gardens forming a 1km Pollinator Pathway, transforming underused urban spaces into vibrant ecosystems that support biodiversity and community wellbeing.
In addition to leading community planting projects, Adam now offers workshops, native garden consultations, installation services, and ecological presentations for schools, businesses, and neighbourhood groups. His work blends hands-on habitat creation with accessible education, helping people bring native plants into their own spaces.
A committed native plant advocate and urban habitat creator, Adam also volunteers with Project Swallowtail—serving on both the steering and advocacy committees—as well as LEAF and Downsview Park. He holds a certificate in horticulture and landscape design from the University of Guelph and continues to deepen his knowledge through hands-on community work and collaboration across the city.
